Spanning 80 hectares of gravelly Saint Estèphe terrain stands Chateau Lilian Ladouys, dating back to 1564 and given the Cru Bourgeois Supérieur ranking. Looking over the Gironde on the rich and well-drained soils are a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc vines which creates a robust and fruity Red.
Tasting Notes:
“This is superlative stuff, confident and enjoyable, although it has the slightly fierce tannins of St Estèphe, and needs to smooth out further with a few more years in bottle. Love the dark chocolate and slate combination that slows things down, adding texture and restraint to the ripe berry fruits. 35% new oak, harvest September 15 to 30.” - Score: 93 - Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, January 2023
Pairing Suggestions:
Pairs well with beef, lamb and game dishes.
