One of the great secrets of the Cote de Nuits, Marssanay is just to the north of Gevrey Chambertin. Domaine Charles Audoin, now run by Cyril Audoin, farms 15 hectares in the vineyards around the village. This wine, the “Cuvée Marie Ragonneau”, is named after Cyril’s great grandmother who took over the estate when her husband was killed in the First World War. It’s a blend of 5 different vineyards around the village, aged for a year in barrel, with 20% new oak used.
Tasting Notes:
The nose is dominated by a light perfume of red fruit berries with a hint of oak and spice. The palate is supple and round, and the overall impression is of a delicious, succulent mouthful.
Serving Suggestions:
This is already drinking very well.
Pairs well with beef, veal and poultry dishes
