Selling out on their first release, the vines of Château Labegorce Margaux cover 70 hectares where some are up to 100 years old. The soils are 70% gravel and 30% limestone creating a traditional wine after being aged for up to 15 months in a cask of up to 35% new Oak. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot makes up 95% of the vines, with the rest made from Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Tasting Notes:
“A brilliant wine with heart and personality. This captures so much Left Bank signature, as is often the case with Labégorce. Slate texture, grippy tannins that tug through the palate, holding tight to the brambled blackberry and cassis fruits laced with hawthorn and raspberry leaf. Great quality. 33% new oak. Harvest September 19 to October 12, technical director Marjolaine de Coninck.” - Jane Anson, JaneAnson.com, March 2023
Serving Suggestions:
Pairs well with red & white meat, mushroom dishes and cheese platters.
